The founder of Empower Divorce Support Network (EDSN) has endured an extraordinary and deeply personal journey, rooted in resilience and a commitment to justice. Her story began in a tumultuous and abusive relationship where, despite her best efforts to separate, her ex-husband trapped her and their young daughter through relentless threats and coercion.
By 2020, the stress of the situation began to take a severe toll on her health. Over 50 hospital visits, multiple MRIs, two spinal taps, and extensive testing revealed a startling truth: her body was mimicking numerous diseases due to the extreme stress she was enduring. This revelation was a turning point. With a 4½-year-old child depending on her, a deteriorating body, and limited resources, she quietly strategized to free herself and her daughter from their toxic environment.
Her journey was anything but straightforward. In 2022, she filed for divorce while still living under the same roof as her ex-husband. The situation escalated in October of that year, culminating in a violent outburst. Fearing for their lives, she contacted law enforcement, which led to their relocation to a safe place where they were met with compassion and support. What followed was a prolonged battle against her ex-husband’s false narratives and a broken family law system.
The process was grueling and filled with missteps, as her initial lack of legal knowledge resulted in court orders that failed to adequately protect her and her daughter. Through trial and error, she gained the knowledge and strength to make informed decisions and maintain a calm, strategic approach.
This journey inspired the creation of EDSN. Her mission is to ensure that no woman faces the challenges of family law and systemic failures alone. By sharing her experiences, she aims to empower others with the knowledge, resources, and support she wished she had during her own fight.
Today, EDSN reflects her vision of a multifaceted organization that not only guides women through their individual crises but also advocates for systemic change. Her story, marked by grace, tenacity, and an unwavering dedication to justice, is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of turning adversity into a force for change.
